Welcome to the Modern Typewriter, daily blog to discuss topics that can’t be answered easily, or are just some fun topics! Today is May 1st, 2008, I’m Melanie, and I am here to wish you a Happy RSS Awareness Day to the 6% of people who know about RSS!
So more than likely, you’re probably thinking, “what’s RSS?” Well, RSS basically is a subscription. You take the web address of a website that supports RSS feeds and add them to a feed reader. Then all you have to do is go to the feed reader page and you can see all of the latest posts from your favorite websites, instantly! It automatically updates your feed reader when the website is updated.
Sounds like a cool little gadget, huh? Well, amazingly, out of the entire population of internet users, only 6% actually know about feed readers and RSS feeds. That is a small percentage compared to the opposing 94% of people don’t know about feed readers.
Being an internet user yourself, would you consider this a good idea? Being able to see your favorite websites updated automatically? Or would you rather actually go to the website and see it updated? Leave us a comment to express your opinion!
Remember, I’m Melanie, and this is the Modern Typewriter, OUT!
