The Lusitania

Welcome to the Modern Typewriter, a daily blog to discuss topics that can’t be answered easily, or are just some fun topics! Today is January 3rd, 2008, I’m Rochester, and I am here to discuss the topic of the famous ship, the Lusitania.

Most people know that the Lusitania was a passenger liner for Cunard Line, a shipping line in the early 1900’s. But this famous ship was torpedoed and it sank in 18 minutes flat. More than 3/4 of the people aboard died.

So why are we talking about the Lusitania? Well, it was an important event in World War 1. This turned most of the countries against Germany, the country that torpedoed the ship.

Now, the German Embassy in the United States had warned the liners who bared a British flag might be a part of destruction. But this did not stop the Lusitania.

Above is a drawing of what the Lusitania might have looked like when sinking.

Remember, I’m Rochester, and this is the Modern Typewriter, OUT!
