2007, The Year of Gaming

Welcome to the Modern Typewriter, a daily blog to discuss topics that can’t be answered easily, or are just some fun topics! Today is December 31st, 2007, I’m Cody, and I am here to what has been recently claimed by the BBC, 2007 is a video gaming year.

Recently posted on the BBC News website is that the year in review has been one of the best for video games. The release of Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, Super Mario Galaxy, and Bioshock.

“If I had to vote on one of the video games above for best game ever, it would be Halo 3. I love Halo 3. I recently bought my Xbox 360, and my mom thinks I’m addicted.” says one of our viewers.

“Call of Duty 4 is way better than all of those games put together. I mean it reflects real experiences that could happen in real life.” says another viewer.

Halo 3 alone made 170 million dollars in the first 24 hours of release and 300 million in the first week.

“Advertising, and marketing were incredible for Halo 3. Every corner you look, you see the Master Chief. He was on t-shirts, soda bottles, magazines, and loads more. But if you look at Call of Duty 4, the graphics are better, Halo 3 was just promoted better.” says Karina, a writer at the Modern Typewriter.

“The release of the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 has helped video game companies as well. They were able to produce more games and make more money.” says Melanie, another writer here at the Modern Typewriter.
