Welcome to the Modern Typewriter, a daily blog to discuss topics that can’t be answered easily, or are just some fun topics! Today is December 5th, 2007, I’m Karina, and I am here to tell you about Carrie Underwood and her songs!
Best known for Jesus Take the Wheel, she is the fourth season winner of American Idol, a popular television show to see who is the best singer. Her debut album, Some Hearts, was the fastest selling album in Nielsen Sound-Scan history.
“Her story of how she got to fame, is amazing. It inspires me to run after my dreams, sort of.” says Melanie, a writer here at the Modern Typewriter. Some of her most popular songs are: So Small, Jesus Take the Wheel, Don’t Forget to Remember Me, Wasted, and the biggest hit to date, Before He Cheats.
“I remember when she auditioned. Simon Cowell had said that she has the potential to win the competition. I remember it to date.” says one of our listeners.
Recently, she got to be a part of Enchanted, the new movie in theaters. The song she sings is called, Ever Ever After. It is available in the album only.
“Carrie is my absolute favorite singer. I have all of her most popular songs, except the ones on the new album, Carnival Ride. It came out October 27th, 2007. I am going to buy it soon.”
She has won many awards. Here are a few examples. She won: four American Music Awards, five Billboard Music Awards, and two Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist. Many people say she is better than the other American Idols because of how many awards she has won already. Kelly Clarkson, has won only two Grammy Awards. Just because someone has won more awards in a shorter period of time mean they are better than someone who has won only a couple of awards in a long period of time?
